SUMMARY

Our school is characterized by having a team of teachers totally committed to their work, who struggle every day to be better professionals. Always on the go. We want to learn as much as we can about the basic competences that 21st century teachers should have. Thus, we wish to continue working on the training path we undertook four years ago, acquiring the most global vision of education possible, from colleagues from the rest of the EU who share our same concerns. Our ultimate aim is to continue improving our school in this line of work, incorporating to our school plan all the learning and teaching experiences we will discover and enjoy during these 24 promising months ahead of us.

After analyzing the school results of the past recent years, we still see the need to improve in some not very good aspects: a slightly high dropout rate in high school students, although it is true that we have improved, among other reasons, thanks to our participation in these projects of internationalization. Likewise, there is a high rate of grade repeaters in Compulsory Secondary Education (CSE) and we still have many students who are in 4th year of CSE with 1 or 2 failed subjects. To this we must add that the effectiveness of some of  measures implemented to cope with diversity is sometimes not very productive, especially in the programs to overcome pending subjects, whose results are much under our expectations. Furthermore, the school has improved its classroom management and discipline procedures although we believe that we still have a lot to learn in this respect.

All the teaching staff, teaching teams, departments and management bodies in our school have reflected upon this reality and have contributed with their ideas to the Improvement Plan and the European Development Plan. We consider that it is paramount for our institution to foster this participation, with the maximum number of teachers and students involved in the Erasmus+ mobility and training programs, as it is a fact that our participation over these years has been a real boost in the life of our school and of the whole community, having considerably increased the motivation of a large part of both the students and teachers first, to learn languages and secondly, to be updated methodologically.

In the two previous projects we prioritized teachers participating in job shadowing observations, totalling up to 13. However, in this new stage we would like to carry out only 4 job shadowing, 2 in Lytchett Minster School in UK and 2 in Gimnazija Poljane in Slovenia as well as 10 structured learning courses in 5 different countries all over Europe -the wider the different views and opinions, the better-, mobilities which respond to the ambitious objectives that we have set out:

1) to improve our classroom management,
2) to better cope with our diversity of students,
3) to enhance our management of the discipline in the school,
4) to continue with our comprehensive and bold methodological update, moving towards an inclusive school that prioritizes the use of active methodologies more centered on the student, on the development of competences for life and on the fulfillment of the Europe 2020 objectives.

Our participation in the job shadowing observations should help us learn how our European colleagues organize their institutions, combat school failure and implement new methodologies, as well as strengthen relationships between schools. As we have mentioned, we feel we need to give more importance to training courses for teachers in academies of recognized prestige and accredited results in order to boost our improvement and training in the following areas:

1. The management of organization processes at all levels, from tutors to teaching teams, departments and management teams. 2. Improvement of language training and language teaching strategies.
3. Improvement of the teaching methodologies currently being used.
4. Acquisition of new strategies that help us combat school failure by working towards a truly inclusive school.

The school commitment to the project and its objectives are also reflected on the profile of its participants, which includes teachers from the vast majority of departments and management bodies of our school, with full support from the management team: headteacher, head of the training department, head of the Counseling department, head of extracurricular activities, multilingual coordinator, head of European programs, area coordinators, as well as teachers of linguistic, scientific and technological areas.

We are convinced of the importance of continuing working on European projects. We have already been deeply and sincerely involved for a few years now and we are beginning to see the impact this Erasmus+ program is having on our institution and on our community. Not only are we improving the training and motivation of the teaching staff, but also - and this is perhaps the most important aspect- that of the students. At the same time, we are also beginning to be recognized by the local educational authorities for our engagement and involvement in European programs. We have had the support of the Parents' Association of our school and the town hall of our town.

Thanks to the diffusion of our project through social networks and the school blog, we are spreading not only our teaching work, but also our culture and our heritage, which has been a great stimulus for our institution.

This project we start now will follow this path which has proved to yield outstanding outcomes already.
